Field Trip app for Google Glass now features new voice commands and personalized function.

Updated last Tuesday, the Field Trip app for Google Glass now features new voice commands and personalized function. This app first came to Google Glass last summer, is basically a virtual tour guide. Field Trip is available for iOS and Android devices.

With the app’s latest essential update, Google Glass explorers can now activate Field Trip by simply saying “Okay Glass, Explore Nearby.” The app also now lets users to personalize the cards that appear based on categories to include architecture, art, history, food and other cool stuff. For example, if you are interested in art, you may get a card alerting you that you are near the subject of a well-known painting.

Field Trip was Google's Niantic Labs team first project. Niantic's Leif Wilden, one of engineers who developed the Glass app said that the team is exploring possible integration of Field Trip into other wearable devices like the smartwatches or the rumored iWatch.
"The wearable devices like glass and the watch that's going to be coming out soon, they work really well with field trip. When we started Field Trip there was no Glass, this is something we're really excited about," Wilden told reporters.
