Luke Friend performed “Moondance” by Van Morrison on The X Factor UK 2013 Top 8 Live Show Week 5, November 9, 2013.

It was a Big Band week special, with the remaining eight contestants all sang classic songs to impress the judges and the public.

Sharon Osbourne said, that was 110 for effort. It was brilliant. You guys are so young and you just threw yourself in. Gary Barlow wasn't impressed, however. He said, I'm sorry I was disappointed. It's a shame. Week on week you've been getting better but not this time. You were singing behind the beat. It was very uncomfortable to listen to. Nicole Scherzinger agreed with Gary. She said, my little friend, I have to agree with Gaz. I feel you were ahead of the beat.

Louis Walsh took umbrage at the criticism. He said: "What they don't realise is you were a busker in Devon, you've come a long way."

Dermot O'Leary rounded on Nicole and Gary. He said: "You're being hypercritical," but Luke was happy as Larry. He said: "I love everything about it.
