Apple WWDC: iOS 8 unveiled, now with new Keyboard and Healthkit



Apple introduced a new version of its mobile operating system, iOS 8, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, June 2, 2014.

The new iOS 8 will include an interactive notification center, an improved email inbox, a revamped keyboard with predictive typing, healthkit, and a number of features for businesses.


Siri is also being updated, with 22 new dictation languages, and Shazam song recognition. Apple has introduced Family Sharing for iOS 8. You can set up your “family unit,” and then easily share photos, calendars, reminders.

Apple has also unveiled iCloud Drive and Mail Drop. These are basically the Apple equivalent of Dropbox and something like YouSendIt. Also extensive changes to Safari, including a Chrome-like Omnibox, and better sharing features.

The iOS 8 beta is available to WWDC developers starting today, Apple confirmed that iOS 8 will launch this September/October as a free upgrade for iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display.
