'Loch Ness Monster' Spotted On Apple Maps?

A group of Loch Ness Monster enthusiasts say they've sighted the legendary Scottish beast via satellite images on Apple Maps. The creature, which purportedly is seen periodically in Scotland's Loch Ness, was spotted this time by members of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club using the Apple software. They have been puzzling over the dubious image for the past six months.

Members of the Official Loch Ness Monster Fan Club claim they have studied an image seen on Apple’s global satellite map application that shows the allegedly 100-foot-long creature, CNet .com reports, citing London’s Daily Mail. They say if you zoom in on Apple images from space you can even see the monster’s giant flippers.

But TechCrunch, in an attempt to clear things out, published an article saying it's a 'boat wake'.

"The satellite image, discovered in Apple’s mapping program, shows what appears to be a sizable ripple in the water, similar to a boat wake."

"But wait! How can there be a boat wake with no boat? Well, as a number of articles have since pointed out, objects – like boats – going missing from the satellite maps’ imagery is actually a common occurrence, and a result of how the computer programs stitch together overlapping images to form a coherent picture of the world below. Sometimes this causes issues when the stitching algorithms go awry."
