Late night news Bandila of ABS-CBN has finally conveyed its public apology last February 27, few days after having sensationally reported a mysterious flesh-eating disease spreading in Pangasinan particularly in the municipality of Sta. Barbara.
In the said report, Bandila’s Jasmine Romero featured two cases of the alleged mysterious skin disease resulting in massive panic not only in the province but in the entire Philippines. Apparently, the news report later turned out to be a complete mistake.
To respond to this, Bandila aired its statement which reads:
“Bandila” apologizes for the unintended fear and panic caused by its report on the cases of skin diseases in two towns in Pangasinan. In accordance with internal standard procedures, ABS-CBN’s Office of the Network Ombudsman is currently investigating the circumstances that led to the airing of the report. ABS-CBN News will take the appropriate actions based on the findings of the Network Ombudsman.”
