Pebble is now at CES2014 in Las Vegas, showcasing its brand new, redesigned metal smartwatch, the Pebble Steel. This year, Pebble is also showing off Pebble 2.0 software and the Pebble app store. It was also at CES where Pebble debuted last year.

As the name says, Pebble Steel is made of stainless steel which comes in brushed stainless and black matte. Similar to the original Pebble, this smartwatch is waterproof and also with the same e-paper display. The difference now is it’s covered with Corning Gorilla Glass and it has twice the available memory than of the original. Battery life can last for 7 days. It also has RGB LED at the bottom corner that serves as charging status indicator.
Alongside with the Pebble Steel are new features from its upcoming Pebble 2.0 update, including the new Pebble app store. The app store and 2.0 updates will be available to Pebble users at the end of January. Demos of new Pebble apps from Yelp, Foursquare, Mercedes and Pandora are now available showcasing the real power of Pebble and smartwatches in general.
For instance, the Yelp app lets people find restaurants or bars nearby using the phone's GPS to pump to the watch. For Foursquare, the app lets users check in directly from the watch with just one touch. The Pandora app adds an expanded Pandora experience to Pebble. Users can skip tracks and change stations. The Mercedes app connects to the Mercedes smartphone apps, and let users get notifications on what's happening in-car on their wrist. ESPN also built a Pebble app that will let users pull in sports scores on the fly.
The Pebble Steel is now available for orders at getpebble.com for $249. Shipping starts on Jan. 28.
