'Wolverine' Actor Hugh Jackman reveals skin cancer scare

"The Wolverine" lead actor Hugh Jackman recently revealed that he has been treated
for basal cell carcinoma, a common form of skin cancer that is rarely fatal. Via Instagram, the actor shares a photo showing his nose with a white bandage being checked on the skin ailment.

Also via Instagram, Jackman sent a message to his wife Deborra-Lee Furness saying, "Deb said to get the mark on my nose checked. Boy, was she right!"

Another Instagram note he posted early Friday didn't contain any hint regarding his treatment. It just says, "Please don't be foolish like me. Get yourself checked. And USE sunscreen!!!"

The 45-year-old Oscar-nominated Jackman is an advocate for cancer research. Being an advocate, he mentioned that supporting the fight against cancer was one of the requirements to get the blessing of having his wife Furness. Moreso, Jackman’s mother-in-law Fay Duncan also happens to be the President of the Fight Cancer Foundation in Australia.

It’s been noted that according to the National Health Department, Australia has the highest skin cancer rate in the world having two out of three Australians being diagnosed with the basal cell carcinoma before the age 70.
