CBS News reports that a trusted source was able to go on board the said floating vessel near San Francisco and confirmed that the rumor is absolutely right. It was further reported that the project for Google X facility has been in planning stages for over a year. Though there is no mention of the ordinary Google retail store.

The floating barge is basically used to showcase Googles’ special projects and upcoming products including the much awaited Google Glass.  And of course the barge is only open to VIPs. According to anonymous source, the first three decks are the showroom areas and the upper level is utilized for entertainment which includes bars and veranda to accommodate invited VIPs.

The anonymous source further says that having this portable invite-only retail/marketing center out of shipping vessels will be easy for the company to collapse the structure anytime.  In this case, mobility and relocation to other parts of the world will be easier. Though CBS confirms that the source is trusted, Google has yet to confirm every detail about this new development.
