Paul Walker, a star of The Fast and the Furious movie series, has died in a car crash that killed one other person north of Los Angeles, his publicist said. He was 40.

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide,” Walker’s representatives posted online, using the actor’s official Twitter and Facebook account.
“He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.”
Ame Van Iden, the actor’s publicist, said the accident happened Saturday afternoon (US time) in Los Angeles.
TMZ, the first entertainment website to break the news, said Walker was in a Porsche when its unidentified driver supposedly lost control and crashed into a tree.
The same TMZ article said Walker was in Los Angeles for “a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort.”

At the time of his death, Walker was working on the latest "Fast & Furious" movie, "Fast & Furious 7". The day before he died, Walker tweeted a photo of himself with "Fast & Furious" stars Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson and expressed his excitement about the upcoming film.
The crash occurred on Rye Canyon Loop, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Responding deputies found the vehicle “engulfed in flames,” authorities said.
