Riyadh Flood Nov 16, 2013

Generally, Saudi Arabia doesn’t receive much amount of rainfall all throughout the year. Report says that, it’s only about 0.2 inches of rainfall the country has received in the month of November. Reports also say that a heavy blanket of cloud enveloped Riyadh’s skyline before the downpours began. The city perhaps was not prepared and was not able to handle the two hours of rain filling in the streets and main roads which resulted in terrific traffic congestion.

On the other hand, some residents were reported to be happy with the change in weather and enjoying the onset of winter earlier during the day. It’s probably because it is very rare to have them experienced such downpours. Temperature in the city was recorded with lows of 24 degrees Celsius in the evening and is expected to further go down today.
