Aid for the Philippines has been pouring in from around the world following the disaster. Nations have scrambled to deliver aid and assistance to the Philippines.
President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday thanked the countries and organizations that have given and pledged assistance to areas in the Visayas ravaged by Typhoon Yolanda, saying the aid “greatly eased our burdens.”
“On behalf of the Filipino people, I thank the governments and peoples of so many nations as well as the donor organizations, who have pledged or already provided assistance, whether technical, financial, or in kind, for the relief and rebuilding efforts that we are undertaking in Leyte, Samar, and other provinces devastated by Haiyan,” Aquino said in a statement.
And as to continuously show sympathy to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan, Netizens are promoting:
Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Philippines on Friday Nov 8, 2013, and the death toll is estimated at anywhere near 10,000. While it is impossible to link climate change to the typhoon straight away, the science of climate change predicts that warmer oceans will mean more extreme weather events.
The devastation has become a talking point at Warsaw Climate Change Conference under UN supervision.
Philippines climate change commissioner Naderev “Yeb” Sano, who warned United Nations officials about the dangers of inaction on climate change a year ago, made a powerful appeal for more concrete action in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.
The Philippines' UN representative has made an emotional plea to the world to end "climate change madness" on behalf of his typhoon-ravaged country.
The Warsaw Climate Change Conference officially opened on 11 November and will last for two weeks. It is the 19th yearly session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19). The overarching goal of the conference is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit the global temperature increase to 2 degrees Celsius above current levels.
