American Express reports that more shoppers are expected to make purchases online to grab more virtual blowout sale rather than going to the stores. And Black Friday as the most popular shopping day is going to be knocked out by Cyber Monday this year.

In 2012, 55% went shopping online instead of fighting the crowds after the Thanksgiving. This year, it is expected to post double digit increase of 13.1 percent or a huge $1.8B in sales. Compared to last year, Cyber Monday sales revenue came in at $1.5B.
Throughout the holiday season, it is projected that shoppers will spend nearly about $62B online or an increase of 12 percent from last year’s revenue during the entire season. Apparently, the increase can be attributed to the increasing sales on retail transactions through the use of mobile devices, which is expected to hit approximately $10B for the 2013 holiday season.
