Cupertino, California – Apple’s proposed new campus finally gets approval from the Cupertino City Council. It took two years after Steve Jobs’ announcement of the new campus construction plans.
Apple's new headquarters which is called the "spaceship campus" because of its oval shape includes the 2.8 million square foot, glass-sheathed oval main building and an underground parking lot that can hold 2,400 vehicles. Also, the campus includes a 100,000 square foot fitness center and a 120,000 square foot auditorium. The company also plans to add another 600,000 square feet for offices and R&D buildings.
The updated plans for the company’s cutting-edge Campus 2 design show four levels of offices, sprawling landscape, a cafeteria, corporate auditorium and a fitness center. The design shape is a sleek, circular main building and glass surrounding the exterior.
Surroundings of the 175-acre campus will be filled with lots of green trees, shrubs and flowers. Trees of course will include Apple trees.
The new campus is expected to open mid-2016.
